Angka Melek Huruf di Kaltim Hampir Mencapai 100 Persen

Seputar Nusantara – Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Kaltim mencatatkan angka melek huruf di Kaltim hampir mencapai 100 persen pada tahun 2022.

Angka melek huruf mengindikasikan kemampuan penduduk untuk dapat membaca dan menulis.

Namun meski begitu, menurut penuturan Kepala BPS Kaltim, Yusniar Juliana terjadi perbedaan persentase antara angka melek huruf pada laki-laki dan perempuan di Kaltim.

Angka melek huruf pada warga berjenis kelamin laki-laki cenderung lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan angka melek huruf pada perempuan.

“Untuk laki-laki itu rata-rata sudah mencapai 98,96 persen. Sedangkan pada perempuan hanya mencapai 97,90 persen,” terang Yusniar.

Persentase angka melek huruf yang tercatat pada tahun 2022 ini sebenarnya mengalami penurunan dibandingkan angka yang tercatat padatahun-tahun sebelumnya.

Pada tahun 2021 misalnya, angka melek huruf di Kaltim mencapai 99,27 persen untuk penduduk berjenis kelamin laki-laki, dan 98,23 persen untuk penduduk perempuan.

Penurunan juga terjadi pada angka melek huruf di tahun 2022 jika dibandingkan dengan yang terdata pada tahun 2020. Pada tahun 2020, angka melek huruf penduduk berjenis kelamin laki-laki mencapai 99,44 persen.

Sedangkan pada penduduk perempuan, angka melek huruf berada di angka 98,44 persen.

Yusniar menjelaskan, penghitungan angka melek huruf dilakukan sebagai indikator untuk melihat kualitas pendidikan di sebuah daerah.

Pendidikan juga termasuk dalam Tujuan
Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) terutama tujuan keempat, yaitu menjamin kualitas pendidikan yang inklusif dan merata serta meningkatkan kesempatan belajar sepanjang hayat untuk semua. (*)
