Kerusakan Arsip Harus Ditangani dengan Benar
Seputar Nusantara – Debuti Bidang Konservasi Arsip, Arsip Nasional RI (ANRI) menegaskan bahwa kerusakan yang terjadi pada arsip-arsip harus ditangani dengan benar. Sebab arsip, khususnya naskah bersejarah bisa menjadi sumber informasi mengenai berbagai aspek kehidupan masyarakat masa lampau seperti politik, ekonomi, sosial budaya.
Karena itu, Kandar menerangkan bahwa dibutuhkan penanganan khusus dalam proses penyimpanan arsip. Selain itu, untuk arsip yang ada dalam kondisi rusak harus dilakukan pemulihan.
“Jadi biasanya dilakukan diagnose terhadap kerusakan arsip, Baru kita lakukan terapi untuk memulihkan arsip-arsip tersebut,” jelas dia.
Ia menjelaskan, penyebab kerusakan arsip pun sangat penting untuk diketahui. Selain itu penyimpanan arsip di lokasi dengan suhu yang sudah diatur pun harus diperhatikan. Kandar mengingatkan agar arsip tidak disimpan di lokasi dengan kelembaban yang tidak sesuai dengan standar.
Sementara untuk arsip yang sudah rusak, Kandar menyebut beberapa di antaranya masih bisa diperbaiki atau diistilahkan dengan enskapsulasi.
“Jadi arsipnya diberi lapisan pengawet,” tambah dia.
Sedangkan untuk arsip yang tingkat kerusakannya terbilang tinggi, maka bisa dilakukan perawatan dengan metode laminasi. Untuk melakukan itu semua, Kandar menerangkan perlu adanya kertas khusus yang dibuat di Jepang. (*)
